Chin-Chern & Stephen in Chicago, IL

Chin-Chern & Stephen in Chicago, IL
Photos By: YazyJo Photography, Chicago
Day-of Coordination: Sweetchic Events, Inc.
Location: Cafe Brauer
Chin-Chern carried a lavish mix of blue and purple hydrangeas and lisianthus.
The bridesmaids wore Jenny Yoo dresses with varying necklines, while the groomsmen matched Stephen in black tuxedos.
The ring bearers carried deep purple pillows.
The laser-cut invites were trilingual: French for Stephen’s Haitian family, Chinese for Chin-Chern’s and English for their friends.
Small vases of purple hydrangeas tied with blue ribbon hung from the folding chairs, giving the ceremony a fresh, summery look.
Though the couple had an English-speaking ceremony, Chin-Chern’s father read Corinthians in Mandarin.
A folding screen decorated with ribbon was a creative way to display the silver and lilac escort cards.
The couple chose Café Brauer because it felt uniquely Chicago. They kept the space simple with classic Chiavari chairs and purple table linens.
Chin-Chern surprised Stephen with a Manzanita tree decked with pictures of their families.
Hydrangeas and other in-season flowers in vases of varying heights decorated the reception tables.
Crisscrossing pink fondant decorated the cake, which was topped with peonies.
The Bride Chin-Chern Soen, 34, a financial analyst
The GroomStephen Jacob, 35, a bank manager
The Date July 3

The wedding was a celebration of cultures (she’s Chinese and he’s Haitian) with nature-themed details.
